Krups KM1010 Prelude 10 Cup Coffee Maker

Just the machine I wanted

Our older Krups coffee maker brewed great coffee for more than 10 years but it was time for an upgrade. It still worked fine but it was quite beaten up in appearance. I knew I wanted another Krups so I opted for the KM1010 Prelude 10 cup model. All I really needed was something with an on/off button with none of those useless features I won't use, but still brews great coffee. Luckily I found this one and boy am I happy I did.

Some of the things I like about it is the very sleek and modern design. The blue light looks cool in the dark and overall it's just a very nice looking machine on my counter. It also makes very hot coffee so if you like it super hot, this is the brewer for you. The mess free filter design is great. You just snap it out, dump it in the trash, and you are good to go. Nothing gets all over the counter which is a nice improvement over other coffee makers I've used. Plus, the drip free pouring is much better than even the prior Krups I had. And did I mention the flavor of the coffee is great?

There are a couple things I don't care about but nothing major. The process of pouring the water can be a bit tricky but nothing you can't get used to. And while the stainless steel construction looks great it does show the fingerprints. You can clean it up easily but it's just something to note. The overall size is a bit more than I was thinking too. While it is a 10 cup machine it is a little taller and deeper than my prior coffeemaker and just doesn't tuck as nicely under the cupboards.

The bottom line on the Krups KM1010 is that it is a simple coffee maker that makes great coffee. And given the track record of our old model I'm assuming it will last for more than 10 years as well.
