Cuisinart DCC-1200 12 Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker

When my prior coffee maker stopped working after several years of use I had to start looking for a new machine to replace it. I wasn't sure which brand I was going to choose but I knew I needed one that brewed 12 cups. After some intense looking around I opted for the Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central as it was highly rated and the reviews were mostly positive.

One thing I really like about it is it brews great tasting and VERY hot coffee every time. You would think that all coffee makers would do this but believe me, they don't. The carafe is also built very solidly and it has a very tight fitting lid. This allows it to pour very precisely with no leaks, even with a full pot. The timer is also quite simple to program which is a big difference from our prior coffeemaker. The warming plate can be set to either low, medium, or hot depending on how you like it. For me the medium setting is just right. The brewing process is very quick with the average being under a minute per cup. I also like the 1 to 4 cup setting which I find myself using quite often. I would think a lot of people would use this unless you have many coffee lovers in your home. The modern stainless steel look to it is just another bonus as it looks great in our kitchen.

It's not all rosy for the Cuisinart DCC-1200 though. I don't like adding water to it as they put the reservoir in the back of the machine for some reason. It takes a steady hand to do this without spilling any water. The unit is also kinda tall so if your counter space is tight you might want to consider a smaller coffee maker. That's really the only things I don't like about it but I have to dock it one star until they can improve at least the water issues.

If you have room for the Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central then you will love this coffee maker. It looks great and does its' job with the best of them. Look around online for a good price though. We found it at amazon.com for much cheaper than locally.
