Great coffee maker with the right pods

I recently bought the Philips Senseo HD7810 single serve coffee maker to replace an old Cuisinart which was what I considered one of the best coffee makers I ever used. One thing I didn’t like about that machine was the cleanup that was required after each brewing so my new model needed to be better in this regard. However, it must still brew great tasting coffee.

The Senseo has satisfied this essential job from day one. Most of the negative consumer reviews I read stated that the java just wasn’t strong enough but it is just right for my tastes. The coffee pods make setup and cleanup much easier since you really don’t have to do much. One thing we noticed is you have to find the right pods because the first Egberts we tried were terrible. After looking around online I found some from alohaislandcoffee.com and they tasted much better. It really just depends on your likes.

The convenience of a single cup machine like this is great. You can quickly brew multiple flavors for different people without making a mess. While the coffee pods are more expensive than standard grounds the tradeoff for us was worth it. We no longer have to scrub the pot after every brewing session and as long as the machine has water it is good to go. The only thing we don’t like about this coffeemaker is our taller travel mugs don’t quite fit under the spout. So we have to transfer from a normal sized coffee cup into our mugs. Not a huge deal but would like a little more room.

If you are going to buy the Senseo I would recommend experimenting with some of the more popular non-Senseo pods until you find the right flavor. The machine does a great job so you really just need to find the right coffee to put in it. This is really the case with any coffee maker you purchase.
