By Gerald DeLuca Our older Krups coffee maker brewed great coffee for more than 10 years but it was time for an upgrade. It still worked fine but it was quite beaten up in appearance. I knew I wanted another Krups so I opted for the KM1010 Prelude 10 cup model. All I really needed was something with an on/off button with none of those useless features I won't use, but still brews great coffee. Luckily I found this one and boy am I happy I did. By Rick Vincent I bought the Breville BES860XL Barista Express espresso machine a couple weeks ago and have already used it like a dozen times. The espresso is so good that I can't stop using it. We are big time coffee lovers in our family and have spent more than enough money at our local coffee shops. That was the main reason for buying the Barista Express, to get high quality espresso and cappuccino without spending $5 for each cup. Everything we noticed on this machine is heavy duty, especially the stainless steel used throughout. Many of the other machines that we looked at just weren't built as good even though they were almost as expensive. While I haven't had it for very long I'm confident it will last for a long time. After some researching I decided to get the Cuisinart CHW-12 as I needed a full sized machine and this one delivers 12 cups each brewing. I also was looking for a hot water kettle and didn't want to have one appliance strictly for this. Once I found out that the CHW-12 dispensed hot water I was sold and I had to buy one. Now I've only had it for a few weeks but compared to the other coffee makers I've owned over the years it really brews some nice tasting coffee. It allows you to brew a fast 8 ounce cup in less than one minute with no messes and very little cleanup, if any. And for all the skeptics out there, the coffee tastes great. It is as good as what we've made in any of our prior drip coffee makers but the effort is way less. By Tyler Rodgers To be a quality drip coffee maker there really are only two things that the machine has to do well: heat up the water to the correct temperature and evenly spray the hot water over the grounds. Believe it or not most coffee machines don't do both of these tasks to the best of their ability and thus they don't produce good tasting coffee. The Cuisinart DCC-1100 is an exception to this which is why I think it's one of the best drip coffeemakers in this price range. By Ryan Ellis I recently bought the Capresso TS 10 digital coffee maker. I've sampled a Capresso before and was impressed with the quality of their machines so I thought I needed one for myself. The best feature of this machine to me is just the simplicity of the operation and design. In our house we haven't even had to break out the instruction manual at all. As soon as I pulled it out of the box I started brewing and haven't looked back. 10 cups is the right amount of coffee for us as we have three coffee drinkers in our household. Overall, turning it on, setting the time and various strength settings, and programming it are about as easy as it comes. The grinder also works great and allows us to go from fresh beans to a full pot in no time. It just gives a much fresher flavor. By Erin Spencer So far I really like the Mr. Coffee EJX33 12 cup coffee maker. The best feature is the Fresh Brew timer which will inform you how long it has been since the pot was brewed. The clock also is not too bright and actually creates a nice ambiance during the night. You can adjust your coffee to be strong or just regular which is nice even though I always leave it on strong. It's nice when your coffee is done that you hear a very pleasant 3 beeps instead of a loud buzz like some other machines. I wasn't sure which brand I was going to choose but I knew I needed one that brewed 12 cups. After some intense looking around I opted for the Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central as it was highly rated and the reviews were mostly positive. One thing I really like about it is it brews great tasting and VERY hot coffee every time. You would think that all coffee makers would do this but believe me, they don't. |
