Overall our rating of the Tassimo is very high. And while we love this single serve coffeemaker and think it is a groundbreaking machine there are a couple of things to note about it. First you must purchase the T Discs before you can brew any coffee. You cannot go down to your local store and simply buy any type of coffee grounds, you must use their T Discs. While it is easy to find them online in just about any gourmet flavor we thought that it should be noted in our review. Also, we found that you must keep the disc area clean after each brewing to allow the machine to accurately read the barcode. It isn't difficult to do but should be noted. We really don't have anything else to note about the Tassimo, other than it produces great tasting beverages in little time. The Tassimo is not just your average single serve coffee maker. It is actually a home brewing system that can make a variety of drinks. You no longer have to brew an entire pot to get one cup of your favorite gourmet coffee. This is one main reason why this coffeemaker enjoys very positive reviews from the home coffee brewing community.
How the Tassimo works is quite unique when compared to other coffee makers. To brew your desired drink you first need to purchase the correct T Disc which is a pre-measured amount of coffee, tea, or milk. Then you insert this disc into the machine and press the start button. The Tassimo will read the barcode on the T Disc to determine how it should brew it, calibrate itself to the right temperature and brew time, and then produce a single cup in little time. Since all the brewing happens right within the T Disc itself using what Braun calls their inverse flow there is little cleanup and you can quickly brew one different drink after another. There is no guesswork on your part.
